I have a private "Cadillac" health insurance plan that pays 100% of all my preventative care. When I called Dr. Hamacher's office to establish as a new patient, the office manager (after ruling out that I wasn't on medicaid) demanded my social security number. There is absolutely no legal requirement or reason for them to have this number. Even my health insurance puts a private ID number on my insurance card to protect my identity. I also have obtained services from OSF and several other private offices in Escanaba without providing my SSN. She was extremely rude and told me she would not accept me as a new patient. I'm sure Dr. Hamacher is a good doctor, but be prepared to be treated like a deadbeat if you sign up for their services.
Love dr. H....I am a third generation patient with him. He has been amazing to myself, grandma, mother and sister!
